YAMMIE

I thought it fitting to begin this blog on music and change and travel with what I consider the birth of all these great things in my life: the day I met Yammie.

Yammie is my faithful, beautiful, 3/4 scale classical guitar. In late August 2007 I was doing some serious soul searching (as most of us tend to do around 20 years old...) and decided that I needed to invest in a guitar. Daddy's Junky Music on Massachusetts Ave. has a pretty decent selection of guitars and I eventually met Yammie and fell in love right then and there. So I took her home and proceeded to (very slowly) teach myself guitar. Since then I have learned a few chords, tried my hand at finger picking, wrote some tunes, and even played a gig or two at the local open mic and bar scene.

With my new plans for travel around the country I hope to bring my faithful sidekick along for the ride so I can continue to learn and grow. On the horizon await many midnight bonfire singalongs looking for a lone traveler and her guitar...
